Story
Aarde Werk is Dutch for ‘Earth Work’. Founded by Cornelis Engelen, who was born and raised in Haarlem, Netherlands, Aarde Werk is built upon foundations of creativity, self-sufficiency, nurturing ones environment and attention to detail. Cees is dedicated to educating others about the importance of growing their own food and works within landscapes to develop timeless, abundant and beautiful spaces. Aarde Werk specialises in Natural Landscapes, Sustainable Water Management and Organic Gardening.
Cees has worked within the industry for over 4 years and has found a passion within the regenerative landscaping realm alongside educating communities on how to cultivate their own food source, work with the cycles of nature and seasons and to know where their food is coming from. Cees has a natural ability to connect with his clients, understand their needs and create unique and fluid garden spaces that leverage the individual assets and personality of the property.
Cees has worked on both small and large scale properties and is a valued Ambassador for Hydrorock stormwater solutions. Cees realises the importance of capturing water within drought and flood common landscapes and uses this to his advantage. Hydrorock works to capture and stormwater and give it to the surrounding soil simultaneously recharging the groundwater table.
Cees has utilised Hydrorock in many properties struggling with water management as it offers a natural, time efficient and long-lasting solution to this increasing problem faced by many Australian states.
Cees and his team are passionate about working with raw textures and finishes to create modern yet welcoming spaces designed to bring people together. Cees values the use of native plant species to encourage a stronger connection to the land and it’s traditional owners.
